Emirates has announced a ban on passengers carrying pagers or walkie-talkies onboard its flights. The Dubai airline said the ban would apply for both checked and carry-on luggage for all flights to, from and via Dubai.

Dubai’s Emirates airline has banned pagers and walkie-talkies from its planes, following last month’s attacks on such devices carried by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Emirates Airlines has placed a ban on passengers travelling with pagers and walkie talkies over safety concerns following an attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Emirates Airline customers will no longer be allowed to travel with pager or walkie-talkie devices according to a company statement released Friday. The new policy comes after the militant group Hezbollah said their pagers and walkie-talkies were laced with explosives that killed dozens and wounded thousands including children in September.

Flights to Lebanon will remain suspended until Oct. 15 due to escalating Israeli attacks against Iran-backed Hezbollah, including strikes near Beirut's airport. Several other airlines have also suspended flights to Beirut and other regional airports amid heightened tensions.
