The Humane Society of Greater Dayton welcomed 17 cats and kittens on Tuesday as part of its hurricane relief efforts. The animals were from a homeless animal shelter in Georgia that was in the path of Hurricane Helene’s devastation.

A local Humane Society took in dozens of cats after a home fire late last week. As News Center 7 previously reported, on Oct. 3 fire crews were called to a house fire on Joyce Drive near Bushwick Drive. The homeowner told News Center 7 on the scene of the fire that there were 20 cats in the home and 15 could be rescued.

As a result, the shelter is asking for emergency fosters for animals currently at the shelter to make space for the incoming animals. The shelter is also asking for donations for the effort.

WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — The Warrick Humane Society says, emergency foster families are needed right now. The organization has partnered with the Best Friends Animal Society, and will take in 25 to 30 animals rescued during disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Helene.

News Oklahoma's Brodie Myers found out The Humane Society of Tulsa owns a rare animal-shelter on wheels, designed to help at major disaster sites.

The closure comes after more than 300 animals — including snakes, turtles, and frogs — were rescued by the Lehigh Valley Humane Society and Vet Clinic.

When Wings of Rescue reached out to the Humane Society of North Texas to help shelter animals in Georgia impacted by Hurricane Helene, staff had 24 hours to organize, make room in their facilities and conduct the transport.
