Researchers who analyzed DNA from the teeth of soldiers who died during the retreat from Moscow say they have identified two diseases that devastated the emperor’s vaunted Grande Armée.

Now, researchers have found evidence in the DNA remains of the soldiers that there may have been multiple diseases that devastated the army, including two previously undetected types of bacteria.
