As per Vogue, the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme for the upcoming Costume Institute show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will use “Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora”.

The theme of the next Met Gala and its celebrity chairs have been announced: Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, ASAP Rocky and LeBron James will help the museum launch an exhibit examining Black style in menswear over the centuries.

The 2025 Met Gala theme is “ Superfine: Tailoring Black Style ,” an expression of Black dandyism. It is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibit will be curated by Miller and Andrew Bolton of the Met Costume Institute.

Of course, there’s actor Colman Domingo, who always elevates any red carpet he steps on, the first Black Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, self-proclaimed fashion killa A$AP Rocky, and rapper/designer Pharrell, who is currently the head of menswear at Louis Vuitton.
