The storied rivalry between Lake Travis and Westlake adds another chapter Friday night when the undefeated Cavaliers (7-0, 3-0) travel to Chaparral Stadium to face the red-hot Chaparrals (6-1, 3-0) in a pivotal District 26-6A showdown.

A Texas high school football legend returned to his alma mater on Friday night. Westlake has become one of the more notable programs in the Lone Star State. In 1996, the Chaparrals won their first state title.

Lake Travis leads the regular-season series 11-8 all-time, according to the Austin Sports Journal, but Westlake has won both of the last two years — and repeated the feat in the playoffs, defeating Lake Travis in the quarterfinals of the UIL state championship both years. Westlake will go for five wins in a row on Friday night.
