Vice President JD Vance left Israel on Thursday with an optimistic note, saying Rafah, a city in the Gaza strip, could be rebuilt in two to three years.

After 738 days in Hamas captivity, the final 20 living hostages crossed the border from Gaza back into Israel on Monday.

The remaining 20 hostages still alive were released Monday, alongside nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners.

Hamas released all 20 living Israeli hostages Monday, and Israel released more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. U.S. President Donald Trump visited the region to discuss postwar plans.

The living hostages are believed to be all men in their 20s and 30s, as most women and children were previously released. One woman, Inbar Hayman, is believed to have died in Hamas captivity and would be one of the deceased returned to Israel.
