Michigan State hockey’s Director of Hockey Operations Dan Sturges died unexpectedly this morning, released in a statement by MSU Athletics. Sturges has worked with MSU hockey since August of 2019, returning to his alma mater.

Michigan State hockey is in the midst of yet another strong season. The Spartans clearly have their eyes on the future, landing their next goaltender.

Michigan State’s student managers rarely find themselves in the center of attention. Their work unfolds in the background, usually unnoticed by anyone outside the program. Isaac Cheli, who works with the hockey team, and Kieran O’Neil, who handles responsibilities for men’s basketball, the job is less about visibility and more about stability.
