Men whose prostate cancer returns after surgery or radiation therapy may now benefit from a new drug combination shown in clinical trials to cut the risk of death by more than 40%.

SpaceOAR Hydrogel is a polyethylene glycol–based hydrogel designed to create space between the prostate and rectum to reduce the radiation dose to the rectum during radiation therapy for prostate cancer. It has also been found to help reduce bowel, urinary, and sexual complications. 2

Former President Joe Biden has finished a round of radiation therapy to treat the aggressive form of prostate cancer he was diagnosed with in May. The 82-year-old has been receiving treatment at
