TSA agents have recovered more than 5,000 firearms so far this year that were not secured properly through U.S. airports.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says it has intercepted thousands of guns at airport security checkpoints as of September.

TSA detected over 5,000 firearms at U.S. airport checkpoints so far in 2024, with 93% of them loaded, and ready for action.

TSA agents have stopped 40 guns at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport checkpoints through the first nine months of 2024, officials say. The detections put MSP Airport at about the same pace as 2023 for gun detections when 53 firearms were discovered for the year.
