Ukrainian forces hit two of Russia’s biggest oil refineries overnight in its latest long-range strikes, officials said Wednesday, as Kyiv deepened its economic, military and diplomatic pressure on Moscow.

Ukraine said on Tuesday it hit one of Russia’s largest satellite communication centers for the second time in just over a week, as Kyiv ramps up long-range drone attacks to pressure the Kremlin to end its four-year-old war.

Loud explosions shook the Ukrainian capital, where more than 50,000 people sheltered in subway stations after authorities issued air raid warnings, the Kyiv Metro said. Emergency crews were digging through the rubble of collapsed and charred apartment buildings in search of victims.

The government in Moscow is coming under increasing pressure over Ukraine's relentless drone strikes. Ukraine's president is due to meet in Washington with President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

Ukraine has launched over 400 drones toward Moscow, according to the city's mayor. The attack comes after Russia bombarded Kyiv and other cities with ballistic missiles.

July 27 (Reuters) - Russian drone attacks on port infrastructure in Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region early on Monday and on Sunday killed one person and damaged three civilian vessels, a local official said.
