Plane protests returned on Sunday and the New York Giants responded with an ugly defensive performance, falling, 34-24, to the San Francisco 49ers.
The red was noticeable in the stadium as 49ers fans roared throughout the game. San Francisco gained 380 yards (5.8 per play) and had 25 first downs. The 49ers ran for 159 yards (a 4.1-yard average). After the game, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart made it clear what he thinks about all those 49ers fans in the stands.
There were fans booing at times, and justifiably leaving early. That left the again all-too-familiar sight and sound of opposing fans, this time a sea of red-jersey clad 49ers fans, loudly celebrating their victory on the Giants’ home turf.
Since the injury avalanche hit the 49ers have managed to keep their heads above water and not suffer any bad losses. After losing in Week 8 to the Houston Texans on the road, the spotlight gets a little brighter for a group that has been pushed into bigger roles with a handful of injuries for San Francisco on both sides of the ball.
