Hurricane Milton rapidly intensified into a Category 4 storm early Monday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Residents should finish final preparations by Tuesday for a major storm that could bring flooding and hurricane force winds to Volusia-Flagler.

(Reuters) - Milton has rapidly intensified into a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday. Milton is located about 150 miles (240 km) west of Progreso Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph (240 kph), the Miami-based forecaster said.
