3 Reasons Why Packers Will Beat Commanders
Digest more
An eye-popping stat on Thursday night was the history of Packers QBs to take a major leap forward when they’re 26 or 27 years old. Bart Starr passed for 2,000+ yards for the first time in 1961 when he was 26. Brett Favre won his first NFL MVP at 26. Aaron Rodgers made his first Pro Bowl at 26. Jordan Love, well, he’s 26 right now.
Defending two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Henry is a tall task. Jackson is a much more slippery rusher and scrambler to defend against than the bruising Hurts, and his ability to evade defenders will be the difference in what will be Green Bay's first loss of the 2025 season.
Here are the studs and duds from the Packers' Week 2 win:
Jordan Love threw two touchdowns, while the Green Bay Packers defense unleashed a dozen hits on Jayden Daniels in a dominant win over the Washington Commanders.
With those two wins, the Packers became just the fifth team since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to open their season with two straight victories over teams who each won at least 12 games in the previous season. (The Lions went 15-2 last year while the Commanders finished 12-5.)
Additionally, tight end John Bates, left guard Brandon Coleman, cornerbacks Trey Amos and Jonathan Jones and wide receiver Noah Brown all left at some point with injuries. Coleman and Amos returned to the game. The worst possible scenario for Washington on Thursday would have been an injury to quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed sustained a broken collarbone during a win over the Washington Commanders, coach Matt LaFleur told reporters.
Green Bay had for 404 yards, while Washington totaled 230 yards in a 'Thursday Night Football' game that left each side with injuries.
