The basic answer is there is no fixed time limit. The BMS (British Menopause Society) guidance states that arbitrary limits should not be placed on the duration of HRT use for anyone. If symptoms persist and you’re benefiting, it’s reasonable to continue as long as risks remain low (eg no new contraindications develop and as you get older you may be moved onto transdermal eg patches or gel if not already) and you’re reviewed regularly.
