Their soft white "natal down" is being replaced with warm grey "thermal down" for better insulation. A new “eaglecam” was installed above the NCTC campus bald eagle nest yesterday on October 6. Fall is the best time for this work as the eagles are roosting near the river and only visit the nest occasionally. This large nest is 90 ft. off the ground, so a crane truck makes the work faster and safer than climbing. A big thanks to Kyle Friend and his tree crew for getting the job done smoothly and safely.
