Virtual tour day 9: The Remigius Window by Penny Forsdyke This cinquefoil window presented in 1858 by Charles Tennyson d’Eyncourt, nephew of the poet, shows the first Bishop of Lincoln, Remigius. There are however two glaring errors; the Cathedral depicted is Alexander the Magnificent’s and Remigius has a moustache, as a monk he would have been clean shaven. Virtual tour day 7: The Wren Library by Terry Johnston This elegant Library, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, was built between 1674-1676 to hold printed books owned by Dean Michael Honywood who bought books on many subjects including a first edition of Milton’s “Paradise Lost” dated 1667 and works by William Byrd. The oldest is a 1468 copy of “The Epistles of St. Jerome”. Honywood bequeathed his collection to the Cathedral which has always been a place of education. | Lincoln Cathedral
