This fossil mural contains a 43” short-nose Gar Masillosteus janei. These are among the rarest fossils found in the Green River Formation. We estimate that less than 20 have been recorded. This extinct gar had a stout jaw and short grinding teeth, unlike other fossil and modern gar with long pointed noses and sharp teeth. This is among the best preserved we have ever seen.
