It's rhubarb season in my garden – such an easy plant to grow and it looks great too. Feed with lots of manure and water well. Don't eat the seed heads or the leaves – they're poisonous! Be sure to go through and cut off the seed heads in springtime so the plant can keep producing fat stems. | Annabel Langbein

Starting the week with a tray of roasted beets (red and yellow) caramelised with olive oil, honey and a little pomegranate molasses, salt and pepper. The pumpkin is drizzled with olive oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper. They take about 40 minutes to cook and will keep for 4 or 5 days in the fridge – perfect to toss into bowls with grains and greens, maybe some feta and nuts, and a tangy dressing, like my Roasted Vege Platter here http://bit.ly/2gq3B7v. I’ve never tasted a more delicious apricot jam than the one my friend Charlotte @manoirbeauregard near Bergerac makes. What a perfect day to arrive in France. Charlotte uses her mother’s recipe and makes small batches in her copper preserving pan. She soaks each kilo of pitted apricots with 700-750g sugar, leaving it for a day and a half to macerate before boiling it up with the juice of a lemon, 3 whole cloves and 3 apricot kernels. It’s so simple to throw sweet potatoes, or regular potatoes or even wedges of pumpkin in the oven to bake to fluffy comforting tenderness . Once cooked, they’ll keep for a few days in the fridge and can be reheated as needed. I’ve topped these sweet potatoes with a yummy Mexican- inspired sauce for an easy vegetarian meal.
