Dr. Tara Burgher practices out of Atrium Health Stanly hospital, near where she grew up in Albemarle, NC. She will be on the faculty of a new residency program aimed at training the next generation of rural clinicians. Research shows that doctors who train in rural communities are more likely to return there to practice. Soon, she’ll teach young physicians in the same way she was guided by her own mentors.
